In April 1988 the Swiss club owner Gregor Spörri traveled to Egypt armed with a number of books recommended by a friend to learn about the ancient Egyptian culture. It was a journey that would change his life forever.

During this trip to Egypt, Spörri was often found in the Great Pyramid where he wanted to find out whether there was any bio cosmic energy inside it. To achieve his goal he crawled through shafts,  bribed overseers, and spent endless hours in various sarcophagi waiting for evidence of a power supply. In vain. Spörri believed that if you put a bottle filled with water on top of the Great Pyramid it would explode because of the cosmic energy. He performed the experiment but sadly nothing happened.

Spörri’s journey was almost over when the bartender of the hotel where he was staying told him that he knew of  an interesting excursion for him (the bartender had been watching him and noticed he was interested in extraordinary cases). Spörri was curious and decided to make the excursion. On the second-last day of his holiday, early in the morning,  a taxi picked him up to take him to his destination. The bartender showed the driver a crumpled note with the address and the journey began. The journey was a 2 hour ride to the district Bir Hooker, a place near Sadat City, located about 100 km northwest of Cairo. They stopped at a farm where Spörri met an elderly farmer named Nagib.  Nagib is a descendant of an ancient family of grave robbers. From a legacy of his ancestors, Nagib inherited two wooden boxes full of valuables that provided him a good income over the years. The stolen treasures were sold to Western tourists and the proceeds bought Nagib land. However, there was one item he never sold which has been in the possession of his family for 150 years. Only a few people have ever seen this object.

Nagib was in financial difficulty so he proposed that Spörri could see this particular object, photograph it and hold it for a fee of $ 300.  Spörri sat on a wooden bench as Nagib pulled out a wooden box and lifted the lid.  As a musty smell rose in the air, he took out an elongated packet, wrapped in a leather cloth with lace around it. Underneath the leather cloth, old rags were wrapped around a strange looking object. When Nagib unwrapped the package, a gray-brown oblong object emerges. He layed the object carefully in the hands of Spörri who examined the object with curiosity. He suddenly realised he was holding a gigantic mummified finger.

It was not an ordinary finger as it measured at least 35 centimetres long and was about 6 centimetres thick.  Spörri observed the finger in detail and was able to determine that what he was holding was old, organic and humanoid.  The finger looked like it had been

cut off with anatomical precision, and in some places was crumbled. The leathery skin was ripped in places and the skin was a few millimeters thick. Between the dried skinfolds he could see remains of fungus and the nail was loose.  The surface of the skin was damanged in some places, as if mice had gnawed on it. The bone felt woody.

Spörri was dumbfounded as the abnormal size of the finger would have meant that its owner must have reached at least 5 or 6 metres in height. His skepticism led Nagib to show him another item contained within the wooden box – a leather file folder containing a number of documents.  Inside the foler was a certificate of authenticity, some papers with Arabic and Latin letters, a Polaroid photo of the finger and an X-ray made in the 60s. The farmer’s son had some research done through a friend in the hospital of Cairo.  When Spörri compared the finger to the x-ray he could see that the proportions and shape were correct and that the x-ray was of the finger he was holding.

Inner Earth Expedition Updates with Brooks Agnew

Published on Oct 10, 2012

Agnew announced that his North Pole Inner Earth Expedition has gotten funding from a New York production company with a departure date set for July, 2013. According to legend, in an oceanic depression above the Arctic Circle is an entrance to an Inner Earth, and through the use of gyroscopes on the ship, they’ll be to identify such a depression, he said. There is space for 100 passengers on the 15-day expedition, and plans are in place to broadcast live from the ship. He also spoke about his company, Vision Motor Cars, which manufactures and sells affordable electric cars and trucks. The vehicles can go up to 100 miles on a charge, and are 60-70% American made, Agnew detailed.

Ancient history

In ancient times, the idea of subterranean realms seemed arguable, and became intertwined with the concept of “places” such as the Greek Hades, the Nordic svartalfheim, the Christian Hell, and the Jewish Sheol (with details describing inner Earth in Kabalistic literature, such as the Zohar and Hesed L’Avraham). The idea of a subterranean realm is also mentioned in the Vedic texts such as the Puranas, according to one story in the Puranas there is an ancient city called Shamballa which is located inside the earth, the belief in Shamballa as a city inside the earth is also found in Tibetan Buddhism.

The concept of a subterranean land inside the earth is popular in mythology, folklore and
legends in ancient times.

According to the Ancient Greeks there were caverns under the surface which were entrances leading to the underworld, some of which were the caverns at Tainaron in Lakonia, at Trozien in Argolis, at Ephya in Thesprotia, at Herakleia in Pontos, and in Ermioni. In Thracians and Dacians legend it is said that there are underground chambers occupied by an ancient God called Zalmoxis. In Mesopotamian religion there is a story of a man who, after traveling through the darkness of a tunnel in the mountain of “Mashu”, entered a subterranean garden.Chapel, bell tower and penitential beds on Station Island. The bell tower stands on a mound that is the site of the original cave which according to various myths is an entrance which leads inside the earth to a place of purgatory. The cave has been closed since October 25, 1632.

In Celtic mythology there is a legend of a cave called “Cruachan,” also known as “Ireland’s gate to Hell,” a legendary and ancient cave from which according to legend strange creatures would emerge in ancient times and be seen on the surface of the earth. There are also stories of medieval knights and saints who went on pilgrimages to a cave located in Station Island, County Donegal in Ireland, where they made journeys inside the earth into a place of purgatory. There is an Irish myth which says tunnels in County Down, Northern Ireland lead to the land of the subterranean Tuatha de Danaan, a group of people who are believed to have introduced Druidism to Ireland, and then went back underground.

An ancient legend of the Angami Naga tribes of India claim that their ancestors emerged in ancient times from a subterranean land inside the earth. There are legends from the Taíno people that their ancestors emerged in ancient times from two caves in a mountain underground.

It is the belief of the natives of the Malinowski’s Trobriand Islands that their ancestors
had come from a subterranean land through a cavern hole called “Obukula”. There is an
ancient legend held in Mexican folklore that a cave in a mountain five miles south of
Ojinaga, Mexico is possessed by devilish creatures who came from inside the earth.

There was an ancient myth held in the middle ages that some mountains located between Eisenach and Gotha in Germany hold a portal to the inner earth. There is an old Russian legend that says the Samoyeds, an ancient Siberian tribe, traveled to an underground cavern city to live inside the earth.

In Native American mythology, it is said that the ancestors of the Mandan people in ancient times emerged from a subterranean land through a cave at the north side of the Missouri River. There is also a tale about a tunnel in the San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation in Arizona near Cedar Creek which is said to lead inside the earth to a land inhabited by a mysterious tribe. It is also the belief of the tribes of Iroquois that their ancient ancestors emerged from a subterranean world inside the earth. The elders of the Hopi people believe that a Sipapu entrance in the Grand Canyon exists which leads to the underworld.

According to South American mythology the belief of the Brazilian Indians, who live alongside the Parima River in Brazil, claim that their forefathers emerged in ancient times from an underground land, and that many of their ancestors still remained inside the earth. There are also legends that say the ancestors of the Inca Empire came from underground caves which are located east of Cuzco, Peru
